Key points
- 94 kWh battery, 489 PS, 800 Nm from two motors
- Claimed WLTP range of 711 km; 0-100 kmph in 4.3 seconds
The Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric has launched in India at Rs 78.50 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory), and its numbers are a big part of the pitch. The single GLC 400 4MATIC variant is assembled at Chakan, Pune, with deliveries from mid-November 2026. Here is a plain-language look at what the battery, motors and range claims mean.

The Numbers At A Glance
| Specification | GLC 400 4MATIC Electric | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Battery | 94 kWh | Confirmed |
| Motors | 2 (one per axle) | Confirmed |
| Power | 489 PS (360 kW), combined | Confirmed |
| Torque | 800 Nm | Confirmed |
| 0-100 kmph | 4.3 seconds | Claimed |
| Top speed | 210 kmph (limited) | Confirmed |
| Range | 711 km (WLTP) | Claimed |
| Drivetrain | AWD | Confirmed |
Power is given in PS throughout. 489 PS is about 483 bhp, which is why some reports quote 482 or 483 bhp for the same output.
Battery
The GLC Electric uses a single 94 kWh battery pack. One report identifies it as an NMC (nickel manganese cobalt) battery. It sits on Mercedes’ dedicated MB.EA-M platform, which uses an 800V electrical architecture. That architecture supports DC fast charging of up to 330 kW, which we cover in a separate explainer. Mercedes says 10 to 80 per cent takes about 22 minutes on a compatible charger.

Power And Performance
Two electric motors, one on each axle, give the SUV all-wheel drive. Together they make 489 PS and 800 Nm. Mercedes claims 0 to 100 kmph in 4.3 seconds for a car that weighs around 2.5 tonnes, according to one report. The top speed is electronically limited to 210 kmph.
Range
Mercedes claims up to 711 km on the WLTP cycle. Some reports quote 715 km, but most use 711 km, so we have used that. On our own arithmetic, 711 km from 94 kWh implies about 13.2 kWh per 100 km, which is a figure we calculated and not one Mercedes has published. Real-world range will be lower and will depend on driving style, road conditions, temperature and AC use.

How The Claimed Range Compares
| Model | Claimed range |
|---|---|
| Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric | 711 km (WLTP) |
| Tesla Model Y | 681 km |
| BMW iX1 | 531 km |
| Mini Countryman Electric | 462 km |
Rival figures are claimed numbers from the reports we used, which do not all state the test cycle, so treat the comparison as indicative.
Our Take
The GLC Electric’s strength is that it combines a long claimed range with strong performance, and its 711 km claim edges past the Model Y’s 681 km. The caveats are that every figure is a claim made under test conditions, the car is a single fully loaded variant, and Mercedes says the order book is already full till March 2027. If range is your priority, take a test drive and check your regular routes before booking.
