Despite sharing its name with the petrol Cayenne, the electric SUV is a different car underneath. It sits on the Volkswagen Group’s 800V Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture. Here is everything you need to know:

Price & Variants –

VariantPrice (ex-showroom, before options)
Cayenne ElectricRs 1.77 crore
Cayenne Turbo ElectricRs 2.28 crore
  • The Cayenne Electric costs roughly Rs 26 lakh more than the standard petrol Cayenne.
  • The Turbo Electric asks for a Rs 51 lakh premium over the base electric variant.
  • Prices exclude options. Porsche’s option list is long, and one source puts it at up to Rs 15 lakh depending on choices.
  • Prices and bookings were announced in 2025, and deliveries have now started.

Design –

  • The Cayenne Electric is a big SUV with wide fenders and a hunkered-down stance. At 4,985 mm, it is about 55 mm longer than its petrol sibling.
  • Up front, it gets Matrix LED headlamps with Porsche’s four-point DRL signature, a blanked-off grille and a large lower air intake with active air flaps. The side vents are larger on the Turbo.
  • In profile, the roofline is raked and the lower body carries plenty of cladding. Wheels are 20-inch as standard, with up to 22-inch units on the options list.
  • At the rear, a connected LED light bar with an illuminated Porsche wordmark runs across the tailgate, along with a roof spoiler. The Turbo adds a body-coloured diffuser and large vertical vents at the bumper corners.
  • Soft-close doors are fitted across the range.

Porsche offers 13 colours, and buyers who want something unique can use the paint-to-sample programme to create their own shade.

Boot Space & Practicality –

The boot holds 781 litres with the seats up and 1,588 litres with the rear seats folded. A 90-litre frunk under the bonnet is handy for the charging cable and a small bag. Towing capacity is 3,000 kg (braked), rising to 3,500 kg with the Offroad Package.

Interior & Features –

  • The cabin is understated and well finished, and it comes in black as standard.
  • The dashboard is anchored by a curved 14.5-inch OLED touchscreen and a 14.25-inch OLED driver’s display. A 14.9-inch passenger display and an augmented-reality head-up display are optional.
  • The three-spoke steering wheel and the dashboard-top stopwatch are classic Porsche touches.
  • The centre console has a pass-through layout with a wireless charging pad. Ambient lighting offers 30 colours.
  • Standard equipment includes four-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 10-speaker audio system, a cabin air purifier, a powered tailgate and powered rear sunshades. The 8-way power front seats can be upgraded to 18-way.

Safety –

The Cayenne Electric carries a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. The ADAS suite includes a 360-degree camera with ParkAssist, Lane Change Assist, Intersection Assist, Warn and Brake Assist, Swerve and Turn Assist and Speed Limit Assist. Comfort Access uses ultra-wideband technology for keyless entry.

Powertrain Options –

Both variants use a 113 kWh battery and two electric motors that drive all four wheels. Adaptive air suspension with PASM is standard, and rear-axle steering of up to 5 degrees is available.

Charging –

DC charging goes up to 390 kW, and Porsche claims a 10-80 per cent top-up in about 16 minutes under ideal conditions. Ten minutes at peak speed can add up to roughly 324 km of range. The onboard AC charger supports 22 kW, which gives a full charge in around 5.75 hours on a compatible wallbox. The SUV is also the first Porsche in India to offer an optional 11 kW wireless (inductive) charging system.

Rivals –

The Cayenne Electric competes with the Lotus Eletre and the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV, and with the upcoming Range Rover Electric. Some buyers may also cross-shop it against the Audi Q8 e-tron and BMW iX.

Our Take –

Porsche’s EVs have kept the brand’s driving focus intact, and the Cayenne Electric carries that on to a family-sized SUV. The Turbo’s acceleration figures are hard to match even among supercars, while the standard variant is quick enough for most buyers. The practicality is strong too, with a big boot, a frunk and real towing ability. The catch is the price: both variants are expensive before you touch the option list. Still, as a luxury EV that combines pace, space and fast charging, it is among the most complete on sale.
