- US sales start in the first quarter of 2027; pricing is yet to be announced
Hyundai has revealed the 2027 Tucson, and this is the real production car, not a concept. It carries the new “Art of Steel” design language first previewed by the N Vision 74 and Boulder concepts. Underneath, the compact SUV gets a larger body, a new Pleos infotainment system with a screen of up to 17 inches, an uprated hybrid and a new off-road XRT Pro trim. It reaches US dealerships in the first quarter of 2027.

Price & Availability
- Pricing: Hyundai has not announced it. An early estimate puts the base price at around $32,000, but that is not a confirmed figure.
- Trims: SE, SEL, SEL Convenience, Limited and the new XRT Pro.
- On sale: Q1 2027 in the US.
Design

- Hyundai says the flat panels and sharp creases take their cue from raw sheet steel, and from the company’s ability to stamp such creases cleanly.
- The “H-Edge” lighting theme uses straight light bars at the vertical edges and across the width of the car, at both front and rear.
- The rear gets vertical tail-lamps with a hooded red light bar.
- Hyundai says the Art of Steel look will feature on its future products as well.
Size and space –

| Dimension | 2027 Tucson | Change vs outgoing |
| Length | 185.0 in (4,699 mm) | +2.4 in |
| Width | 75.0 in (1,905 mm) | +1.6 in |
| Height | 66.3 in (1,684 mm) | +0.8 in |
| Wheelbase | 109.6 in (2,784 mm) | +1.2 in |
| Cargo space (behind rear seats) | 41.7 cu ft (about 1,181 litres) | Slight increase |
Hyundai says most of the extra size goes into rear-seat and boot space. The claimed cargo volume is ahead of the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 and Nissan Rogue.
Interior

- Hyundai describes the cabin as living-room inspired, with rounded, upholstered shapes for the dashboard and armrests.
- The gear selector moves to the steering column, which frees up room for a split-level centre console with large cupholders and two wireless chargers.
- The rear doors open to 83 degrees, 10 degrees wider than before. The back seat has good padding, ample leg, head and toe room, and USB-C ports on the front seat backs.
- The driver sees a slim, ribbon-style display above a “squircle” steering wheel. It can be set up to show the trip computer or media information.
Features & Technology

- Pleos infotainment: a 17-inch touchscreen on higher trims and a 12.9-inch unit on the rest. The left third shows vehicle information and the right two-thirds runs apps.
- Phone mirroring: Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, which sets it apart from Tesla and Rivian.
- Physical controls: rocker switches and dials remain for audio and climate.
- Gleo AI assistant: developed in-house, it can control more functions, such as the windows. A later update will let it chain commands like “close the windows and turn on the A/C”. Updates will arrive over the air.
- Driver aids: safety and driver-assistance features can be switched on or off from the infotainment screen.
Powertrain Options
US-spec Tucsons get two powertrains, each available with front- or all-wheel drive.
| 1.6L Turbo-petrol | 1.6L Turbo Hybrid | |
| Power | 184hp | 233hp (combined) |
| Torque | 195 lb-ft | 280 lb-ft (combined) |
| Transmission | 8-speed AT | 6-speed AT |
| Drivetrain | FWD / AWD | FWD / AWD |
| Towing | Not announced | Up to 3,000 lb (about 1,361 kg) |
| Fuel economy | EPA rating awaited | Up to 42mpg combined (expected) |
AT – Automatic Transmission, FWD – Front-Wheel Drive, AWD – All-Wheel Drive
The hybrid uses the new TMED-II system, the same architecture as the Palisade hybrid. Hyundai will sell a 2.0-litre non-turbo engine and a plug-in hybrid in other markets, but these are not part of the US plan.
Tucson XRT Pro
The XRT Pro is the off-road version. It gets:
- A unique front fascia with functional tow hooks
- Tougher fender and rocker-panel cladding
- Ground clearance raised by 1.2 inches to 8.3 inches (about 211 mm)
- All-terrain tyres
- Smart Terrain Assist, an AI-based system that judges how difficult the terrain is
It comes only with the all-wheel-drive hybrid powertrain and tows up to 3,000 lb.
Rivals
Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Nissan Rogue
Our Take
The new Tucson’s strengths are space, a far more modern cabin and a more powerful hybrid. The caveats are that pricing and EPA ratings are still missing, and the new UI will matter to buyers who prefer simpler controls. The retained physical switches should help there. Until Hyundai confirms prices, the hybrid looks like the version to watch.
