Hyundai’s beloved city runabout has grown up. The Grand i10 Nios now packs features that were once reserved for cars twice its price. Let’s start with the obvious — pricing.

Starting price (ex-showroom) –
₹5.92 Lakh
Goes up to ₹10.20 Lakh for the top Asta (O) turbo variant
Hyundai Grand i10 Nios — Exterior
I think Unlike its boxy predecessor, the Grand i10 Nios has grown into a much more confident-looking car. At first time I see front end gets a wide cascading grille flanked by sharp projector headlamps of i10. I feel that would not look out of place on something far more expensive. Hyundai has clearly invested serious thought into the design — this is a car that does not look like a budget compromise from any angle.
When my eye go to side profile I found clean and well-proportioned, with a rising beltline that gives it a sporty stance. You get 15-inch alloy wheels come standard on the higher variants. I10 comes with Fiery Red, Polar White, Titan Gray, and the eye-catching Typhoon Silver.
The tail lamps are connected by a chrome strip at the rear. According to me it’s gave it a wider, more planted look. If want to own new Grand i10 Nios it is genuinely turns heads — and that is saying something.
Hyundai Grand i10 Nios — Interior
When I Step inside and you immediately notice that Hyundai has been very generous with the cabin space. For a car of this size, rear-seat legroom is surprisingly decent — three adults size of me 5’.6” can manage without too much elbowing.
Trust me dashboard design is clean and modern, with a 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Top variant supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
I found seats are well-bolstered and comfortable for city driving. The fabric upholstery feels durable and the overall quality of materials is solid. Now I can say with confidence nothing feels like it will fall off after six months of use.
Storage spaces are thoughtfully placed, and there are cupholders exactly where you would expect them. The 260-litre boot, while not enormous, is quite practical for a family’s weekend grocery run or a short trip’s worth of luggage.
The features didn’t surprise me much, considering the Hyundai brand name. Here you will find automatic climate control, a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors, a cooled glovebox on select trims, and on the Asta (O) variant, a sunroof — yes, a sunroof in this segment at this price.
The six airbags on the top variant and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) also make this one of the safest cars in its class.
Hyundai Grand i10 Nios — Engine, Power & Performance
Speaking of the engine, you get the same one that has been available all along. Grand i10 Nios is offered in two engine options.
Engine –
- 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine produces 83 bhp and 114 Nm of torque.
- Paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT automatic gearbox.
- 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, producing 100 bhp and 172 Nm of torque.
- Available only with a 5-speed manual.
- 0–100 km/h in the turbo variant comes up in around 10 seconds.
Fuel efficiency is excellent by any standard. The 1.2 petrol returns a claimed 20.7 km/l, and real-world city figures hover around 13–15 km/l depending on your commute and right-foot habits. For a daily driver in an Indian city, this is close to the best you can get in this segment.
Hyundai Grand i10 Nios — Review
Back in the day when young professionals needed a sensible, affordable first car, they bought a Maruti. But the Grand i10 Nios has quietly changed that conversation. It is extremely well-rounded — comfortable, efficient, feature-packed, and genuinely enjoyable to drive. Hyundai even says this car can handle the chaos of Indian city roads with ease, and the suspension tuning absolutely bears that out. Speed breakers, potholes, and broken stretches of tarmac are absorbed with composure that you simply do not expect at this price.
The ride quality is the Nios’s biggest party trick. Soft enough to be comfortable, yet firm enough to not feel wallowy on highway stretches. The steering is light at city speeds — ideal for navigating tight lanes and parking in spots that require surgical precision — but weighs up adequately as speed increases. It never feels nervous or twitchy.
Then there is the cabin experience. Boot up the 8-inch touchscreen and it responds quickly, the interface is intuitive, and wireless phone mirroring works without drama. The Bose or standard sound system — depending on variant — is surprisingly capable for the price. And that sunroof? Owners will open it every single time the weather is remotely cooperative, guaranteed.
The turbo petrol deserves a special mention. Select it, and the Grand i10 Nios stops being a practical commuter and becomes a genuinely fun hot hatch in spirit. The engine pulls strongly from low revs, the exhaust note is pleasantly sporty, and the whole experience feels punching well above its weight. Rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Tata Tiago certainly have something to worry about.
The Grand i10 Nios starts at ₹5.92 lakh but this is before you start moving up the variant ladder. Go for the Asta (O) turbo and you are looking at ₹10.20 lakh — still a significant amount, but an experience not too far removed from much more expensive hatches. And unlike some of its rivals, the Nios gives you a genuinely complete package without making you feel like important features were deliberately withheld to push you upward.

Best decision I made. The AMT makes city driving a breeze — I was worried about the gearbox but it is smooth enough. Mileage is outstanding. Only gripe is that the rear AC vents would have been nice at this price. Otherwise nothing to complain about.

The turbo engine is an absolute blast. I bought it thinking it would be my sensible city car and ended up driving it on weekend trips just for fun. Hyundai has done something special here. Build quality is solid, features are great, and that sunroof seals the deal.
